Tra Walls Photography

About Tra

Born in 1979, Walls grew up in County Donegal and now lives and works in Belfast.

Her love of photography was galvanised by studying the subject at Belfast Met Higher Education College and then at Belfast Exposed, where she continues to work. Using a digital 35mm SLR camera, Walls’ work is rooted in the real-life experience of family, friends and landscape, fusing documentary and fine art practice to stunning effect.

Tra’s Work

Her upbringing on the family farm is evident in Walls’ ongoing project of carefully observed studies of rural life. Her photographs balance composition and colour to capture the nuanced physical and emotional relationships between people, animals and machinery throughout the agricultural year.  Subsequent projects have included urban landscapes, portraits of Oxfam volunteers, and a series of works documenting Belfast club and events company, The Night Institute.
